High River is part of the Municipal District of Foothills No. 31, a rural municipality located adjacent to and immediately south of the City of Calgary. The M.D. covers an area of approximately 1,400 square miles (3,600 square kilometres) in the foothills of sunny southern Alberta. The M.D. celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 2004. Foothills MD includes the Towns or Communities of Aldersyde, Black Diamond, Blackie, Cayley, De Winton, Heritage Pointe, High River, Longview, Millarville, Okotoks, Priddis, Priddis Greens, and Turner Valley.
Located in Rural Foothills M.D., High River is 55 km South of Calgary and is nestled in the Foothills of the Canadian Rockies. The Town of High River is a fast-growing, vibrant community that enjoys the advantages of living in the country with close proximity to Calgary. The Town of High River's Culture Centre offers a variety of programs, activities, and special events that are designed to meet the needs of the local community. Programs are for all ages and are intended to expose the local community to a wide variety of opportunities. The fenced in court-yard offers a beautiful gazebo and garden in the summer months making it ideal for weddings, receptions, BBQ's or other planned outdoor events.
The Culture Centre includes a large studio which is used for a variety of activities including classes in the arts, dance, and music, as well as general interest and health and wellness courses. The studio includes full kitchen facilities and is available to rent, making it an ideal venue for wedding receptions, office parties, family reunions and large dinner parties.
Located in the basement of the Culture Centre, the pottery studio is fully outfitted for creating pottery, complete with pottery wheels and an electric kiln.
