Springbank was once a rural community composed of farms and ranches, Springbank has since been transformed into an estate/acreage community. Designed with the natural surroundings in mind, Springbank offers something for everyone from quiet country residences, to more urban dwellings. Located on the western edge of the City of Calgary, easy access to both the city and mountain parks has persuaded many to make their home in Springbank. The extensive pathway system and pedestrian-friendly roadways provide direct routes to services and activities while still being close to nature. (source Rural Rockyview M.D.)
Bearspaw is located north of the Bow River and west of Calgary. With it's natural beauty of rolling hills, open prairie, and a spectacular view of the Rocky Mountains, more and more people are calling this community home. What was once a dairy farming district is now a mixture of active farms and ranches, acreages, and planned subdivisions. While offering an abundance of scenery and wildlife, Bearspaw also has many ammenities to offer it's residents. The Bearspaw-Glendale Community Centre offers a hall with kitchen facilities, a stage, gymnasium, kindergarten, play school, fine arts school, tennis courts, soccer and baseball fields, horseback riding areas, a playground, and a picnic area. Some of the most challenging golf in the area can be found at the Bearspaw Country Club and Lynx Ridge. This mixture of scenery and community life is what makes Bearspaw such an enticing place to live. (source Rural Rockyview M.D.)
Chestermere Lake was formed in 1906 when an earthen dam, 2,00 feet long and 30 feet high, was built across Kinniburgh Slough filling a natural depression in the land with water from the Bow River. The only man-made parts of the Lake are the dam and headgates at either end. The purpose of the Lake within the Western Irrigation District was, and is today, to act as a balancing pool for the irrigation system consisting of approximately 1100 km. of canal.
Today, located approximately 8 km east of The City of Calgary along the Trans-Canada highway, the Town of Chestermere, one of Western Canada's fastest growing communities, is proud to boast a population of 3,742. Chestermere is typically upscale with many young families and professionals, who move here to enjoy the recreation and quiet small town atmosphere.
Chestermere's primary attraction is a 750 acre lake that offers water skiing, sailing, and fishing. Other recreational activities available include an annual Water Festival, Canadian Wakeboard Championships and Country Fair. Also available is an 18 hole golf course, a community recreation center, and a pathway system throughout the Town wich connects with Calgary and beyond as part of the Trans Canada Trail.
All this plus the freshest, cleanest air, serene, country-like atmosphere matched only by the beauty of the prairie sunrises and sunsets! One may well refer to the Town as "the little jewel in the East". (source Rural Rockyview M.D.)
