About the Riverbend Community in southeast Calgary
Riverbend was so named because it is near a bend on the east side of the Bow River. Development in the area began in 1982. The area offers excellent views of both the Rocky Mountains and the wooded flood plains. The community is also conveniently located near Glenmore Trail, Barlow Trail and Deerfoot Trail. Riverbend residents enjoy easy access to the Bow River pathway system, as well as direct access to the Bow River. There are numerous green spaces in the community which offer plentiful recreational opportunities for residents. Riverbend is also home to both a public and separate school and is a short 20-min commute to downtown Calgary.
The Riverbend community association offers something for all age groups and is very active and promotes community interests to the city. Riverbend has installed a popular skateboard park to make more effective use of the community skating rink during the summer.
