About the Queensland Community in southeast Calgary

The southeast Calgary community of Queensland is surrounded by park on three sides and enjoys quick access to Deerfoot Trail for a quick 20 min-communte into Downtown Calgary. Plenty of outdoor recreation opportunities await for Queensland residents and there is a large off leash area for dogs. One often sees people fishing off the banks of the Bow River, just below Queensland, Diamond Cove, and by Douglasdale Estates. The Higgins bridge across the Bow River in Fish Creek Provincial Park connects the three communities.

The community center serves both Queensland and Diamond Cove residents. Mega shopping is close-by at Willow Park, big box stores on Macleod, Deerfoot Meadows, and Deer Valley mall is just off of Canyon Meadows drive and Bow Bottom Trail.

The area of Queensland was annexed by the City in 1961. However, development did not begin until 1973. Single family detached and attached homes are the predominant form of housing in the community, with some condominiums/townhouses located throughout the area. Diamond Cove is a newer community (1991) located on the north tip of Queensland by the Bow River and bounded on the west by Bow Bottom Trail, which provides direct access to major vehicle routes such as Deerfoot Trail and Anderson Road.
